To quote the Winey Dad on leaving Yalumba in the Barossa Valley, “That was possibly the best cellar door experience we’ve ever had” – and we’ve been to a few!
A warm welcome that includes acknowledgement of your kids in our opinion forms the basis of any really good family friendly cellar door experience. The lovely staff acknowledged the Winey Kid by saying hello, pointing out the toy box and bringing out some colouring in for her. I even loved the “Wow, you’re brave going wine tasting with a new baby” comment which instantly puts you at ease by acknowledging the challenge!
Beautiful grounds to explore, a huge lawn to play on, and even a lit fire pit making it tempting to stay a little longer even on the coldest of wintery days.
And as for the wine, some great tastes on offer. We particularly loved the oaked Chardonnay and Eden Valley Riesling, neither of which were on the tasting menu so worth asking for!
